Illustration GrowerHub: stages of plant growth and settings for watering, light and care

The growth stage changes how the plant responds to water, light and nutrition. Small seedlings do not use as much water as a mature plant. After transplantation, the roots temporarily work differently. During active growth, consumption changes faster, and during the flowering or fruiting period, stability is more important in vegetable crops.

It would be a mistake to set one care regimen and not return to it for months. But the same mistake would be to change the settings every day. GrowerHub helps to maintain balance: the stage is recorded in the diary, and graphs show whether the regime really needs to be adjusted.

Seedlings and rooting

At an early stage, the plant is especially sensitive to overwatering and drying out of the top layer. The small volume of the substrate changes quickly, so watering must be careful. A humidity sensor in a small cassette is not always useful: it may occupy too much of the volume and poorly describe all cells. Frequent inspection, a light substrate and careful amounts of water are important here.

The light should be stable, but not overheating. If seedlings are stretching, look at light and temperature first, not feeding. A photo diary helps you notice stretching before it becomes obvious.

Active growth

During active growth, the plant consumes more water. The humidity graph may drop faster than before, and this is not necessarily an accident. But you need to increase watering gradually, checking the reaction. If growth accelerates after improved light, water flow will also change.

A combination of a diary and charts is especially useful here. Record the date of light change or replanting, then watch how the humidity and appearance change. A weekly care plan helps you avoid making multiple changes at once: weekly care plan.

After transplant

After replanting, the plant may temporarily have poorer water consumption. The new substrate holds moisture differently, the roots adapt, and the old sensor threshold may no longer be suitable. During this period, you should not immediately turn on aggressive automatic watering at the previous values. It is better to observe and water carefully for several days.

If the pot or substrate has been changed, note this in your diary. For the adviser, such a record is important: symptoms after transplantation do not always mean that fertilizer or water needs to be added.

Flowering and fruiting in neutral crops

For ornamental flowering plants, tomatoes, peppers and other neutral crops, stability is often more important than drastic adjustments. Overdrying and overwatering can affect flowers, ovaries and general condition. Feeding during this period requires careful notes: composition, dosage, pH if necessary and reaction.

The minimum data on nutrition is described in the article pH and feeding. The main idea: do not change nutrition without connection with water, light and the condition of the plant.

Conclusion

The growth stage is the context for the data. The same humidity graph can be read differently in seedlings, an adult plant and a plant after transplantation. Fix the stage, change the settings gradually and check the result using photos, logs and graphs. This way care becomes adaptive, but not chaotic.
